Marion Stokes, a former librarian and activist, spent 35 years recording television news programs 24 hours a day on VHS tapes. Her effort began out of a desire to document how news is presented and has resulted in a vast archive of over 70,000 tapes. Many of these recordings are the only known copies of certain broadcasts, capturing shifts in culture, politics, and media over decades. Stokes' project is considered an invaluable historical resource, providing unique insights into how media shapes and reflects society.
